ALA provided seamless urban design solutions for an office building / parking structure located on a site containing significant grade change.  The design process began with site analysis studying walk-sheds, proximity to green spaces, solar considerations, and access to future development.  One of the overarching design concepts was maintaining connectivity between the urban fabric of the peninsula and Casco Bay via a strong pedestrian axis.  A plaza with seating embraces the public realm and potential café to the west.  Seating alcoves with triangulated landform weave the public realm into the property on the north side of the building.  At the designated main entry, a woonerf style condition blurs the vehicular dominant point of entry to the parking deck below, so as to create a space that is inviting to pedestrians.
