ALA has been an ongoing consultant partner in the design and planning of a 26+ acre mixed use commercial center in Windsor, Colorado. We designed a massing scheme to drive the layout of buildings, roads, parkways, parking, and open spaces throughout the 26 acre tract. Additionally, ALA has provided alternatives for all parks, open spaces, plazas, and greenbelts planned along the pond perimeter.
Our concept includes high visibility, single level commercial buildings along the road frontage. Two access points are lined with retail buildings creating a street wall effect that leads to enhanced intersections, with a north-south parkway connecting to neighborhoods to the north and a commercial district to the south. Slightly higher density is encouraged to the eastern edge along the pond where two story mixed office, retail, and hotel uses hold a perimeter. The pond edge contains a series of parks, greenbelts, and plazas.
