The Edgewood Creek home in Snowmass Colorado sits high above the ski resort base village with carefully planned ski-in/ski-out access. The project initially began with a master plan which envisioned a single home straddling two lots and bisected by a historic ditch which provides water rights to downstream homes and ranches. The ditch became a centerpiece element the design team would build off from, transforming from a modest water course to a rambling stream with cobblestone riffles and limestone drops and pools. The home was designed to extend a bridge across the stream, connecting the garage and guest home with the main house. At the lower level, a large flagstone terrace provides ski access in the winter and secluded enjoyment of the surrounding aspen forest in Summer. A walking path was designed to provide access deeper into the forest where several moments are created using stone paving, stream crossings, bench seating and a small pond.
