3i HOME is a new model for affordable living for people with physical impairments. The project site sits within close proximity to the Downs Town Center. At just over an acre in size, the site plan seeks to manage space efficiently while taking advantage of the surrounding town centers transit-oriented convenience. ALA conceptualized a site plan built around the notion of ‘barrier-free’ design. The building and site will work together seamlessly to provide universal access through careful consideration of grade changes, visibility, and use of assistive technology.

ALA has been a champion of equitable public space design and universal access as well as design for futures with fewer vehicles. To that end, ALA was able to successfully guide the development and win planning board approval with reduced parking ratios, allowing for more generous garden spaces and safe maneuvering area for people with disabilities.
